KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In its first season with two divisions, the Heart of America Athletic Conference football coaches picked Grand View and MidAmerica Nazarene to win the Northern and Southern Division titles, respectively, in the 2015 Heart Football Coaches' Preseason Poll.
In its first season in the conference, Grand View claimed four of six first place votes to earn 49 points in the Northern Division voting. Benedictine and William Penn each earned one first place vote to end up one point apart in second and third place, respectively, while Graceland, Peru State and Culver-Stockton took the final three spots.
MNU also picked up four first place votes after sharing the conference championship last season and was picked to win the Southern Division crown. Similar to the other division, Missouri Valley and Baker each picked up one first place tally to sit in second and third, respectively, while the last three spots in the division were occupied by Evangel, Central Methodist and Avila.
The 2015 season kicks off with a full slate of six games on Saturday, August 29. The first game to kickoff will be in Des Moines, Iowa as Grand View hosts Baker in what is expected to be a Top 20 showdown at 11:00 a.m. The game will also be the first in a 13-game schedule of contests to be televised locally on KSMO-TV and distributed via Mediacom throughout Iowa, Illinois, Kansas and Missouri. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app, creating a potential audience of more than 100 million viewers.
