The Victory Sports Network has selected this weeks NAIA players of the week for games played the weekend of September 16th. This week's winners include . . .
Offensive: X’Zavier Bloodsaw - QB – Texas College
Defensive: Chauncy Calhoun - DB – Valley City State
Special Teams: Mike Skvor - K – Malone College
Texas College quarterback X’Zavier Bloodsaw is this week’s Victory Sports Network Offensive player of the week. Bloodsaw, a freshman from Houston, Texas, led the Steers to their first win of the season over Belhaven, 37-34. Bloodsaw was 13-26 for 221 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 41 yards on five carries. Bloodsaw got the starting knod as senior quarterback Allen Webb was help out with an injury. The Steers (1-3) play Paul Quinn on September 30th in their next contest.
Valley City State defensive back Chauncey Calhoun is this week’s Victory Sports Network defensive player of the week. Calhoun, a sophomore from Phoenix, Arizona intercepted three Dakota State passes and returned two of them for touchdowns of 80 and 81 yards. Calhoun’s three interceptions tie a school record while his 163 return yards breaks a record. Valley City State (2-1) plays this week at Jamestown in Dakota Athletic Conference play.
Malone College kicker Mike Skvor is this week’s Victory Sports Network special teams player of the week. Skvor, a sophomore from Long Beach, California, kicked a 43-yard field goal with twelve seconds to play for the upset of #5 Saint Xavier University. Skvor was 3-3 on field goals with his long being the game winner. He was also perfect on PAT’s and had two touchbacks on kickoffs. Malone (2-1) is off this week and will resume MSFA play October 1st against Geneva College.
